Happy National Superhero Day from UltraGirl!
April 28 is National Superhero Day!
National Superhero Day was created in 1995 by employees of Marvel Comics. They asked children what superpower they would want to have if that were possible. To the surprise of the Marvel employees, the children spoke more about practical superpowers and the heroes that existed in their lives. The children noticed how their real life superheroes often wore normal clothes and made do without any superpowers. The interactions that the Marvel employees had with these children inspired them to create the day and honor our everyday superheroes.
National Superhero Day is a reminder that superheroes can come from anywhere and that having a good heart can be just as important as having superpowers. Everyday, people from all walks of life do incredible things in the course of their normal workday. Parents and teachers do incredible things in raising and educating the next generation. Superheroes can come from anywhere and ordinary people are all capable of doing extraordinary things. National Superhero Day reminds us that we all have the ability to help others and that superpowers aren’t required to do good in the world.
